This month we're excited to celebrate Jocelyn Bioh!! Jocelyn has been a longtime friend of BOLD- graciously participating in our very first panel, and giving of her time to speak as a mentor for our first Writing workshop. So when she put BOLD on the press list for School Girls; or, The African Mean Girls Play... We were giddy with excitement to be a part of this moment for her!

Here's a synopsis: Paulina (MaameYaa Boafo) the reigning queen bee at Ghana's most exclusive boarding school, has her sights set on the Miss Universe pageant. But the arrival of Ericka, a new student with undeniable talent and beauty, captures the attention of the pageant recruiter--and Paulina’s hive-minded friends.
We got a chance to interview Jocelyn and the cast, to learn more about what inspired Jocelyn to shine a light on colorism in her writing. We also got to hear from the cast about their characters, and they tell us what it's like to show up for rehearsal and be in a room full of beautiful black women.
